How to build a retargeting campaign that converts: 4 layers
A remarketing model that turns site visitors into sales and bookings without burning frequency.

Stop one list for everyone
“All visitors — 30 days” looks cheap and often wastes money. Split cart adders, pricing-page viewers, form abandoners and blog readers. Give each layer its own bid and message.
Blasting discounts at cold visitors cheapens the brand. Lead with clarity and trust, then the offer. Tecrube auto-segments these audiences and suggests the creative sequence.
Cap frequency
Showing the same creative 4–5 times a day kills CTR and brand trust. Watch Meta frequency around 3 and Display impression caps weekly.
Run 7 / 14 / 30-day windows as separate campaigns. Days 1–7 for hot intent; days 14–30 for reminders and social proof.
Match creative to the journey
Cart abandoners need product + stock + one-click checkout; service leads need a case study + booking CTA; pricing browsers need FAQ and guarantees. One generic banner is not enough.
Do not reuse the exact prospecting winner in retargeting. They already saw it — move to objection-handling creative.
Measure recovery on its own
Never mix remarketing ROAS with prospecting. Separate campaigns, budgets and success definitions. Otherwise you cut cold traffic while believing “everything is fine”.
Weekly: CPC, frequency, conversion rate and revenue. If frequency rises and conversion falls, refresh creative before raising budget.
