Part 2: Authorise your Google Ads account

In part one Claude connected to Tecrube. In this part you connect Tecrube to your Google Ads account: ask for an account connection in the chat, go through Google's permission screens and pick the account to manage. The part ends with your first report.

The Google authorisation is tied to your Tecrube account, not to Claude. Once you complete this part, the same ad account is reachable from ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor as well. No re-authorisation is needed.

Guides

Step 6 — Ask Claude to connect

Open a new chat and type “I want to connect my Google Ads account”. Claude calls Tecrube's account connection tool and returns an authorisation link. This call spends no credits.

Step 7 — Open the link

Claude shows a notice that you are about to open an external link; choose Open link. Tecrube's hosted Google sign-in flow starts in your browser. Seeing accounts.google.com first and then Tecrube's domain in the address bar is expected.

Step 8 — Choose the right Google account

On Google's account chooser, select the Google account that your Google Ads account belongs to. The most common mistake is signing in with a personal Gmail; if the ad account is tied to your work email, pick that one. If you work through a manager account (MCC), use the Google account authorised on that MCC.

Depending on the app's verification status, Google may show a warning screen. If so, click Advanced and continue; the requested permissions are limited to Google Ads data.

Step 9 — Grant access

On the “Tecrube wants access to your Google Account” screen, review the requested permissions and click Continue. Google issues Tecrube a scoped access token. That token is stored encrypted on Tecrube's servers; it is never written to Claude, the chat or your computer.

Step 10 — Pick the account to manage

When the Google step finishes, Tecrube's account picker opens and lists the Google Ads accounts you can access. Tick the account you want to manage and click Save selection.

  • On the free trial and the Pro plan you pick one account; you can change the selection later from the chat.
  • On the Agency plan you can select several accounts and the clients under a manager account; each client runs isolated from the others.
  • If the list is empty, the Google account you signed in with has no access to the ad account; go back a step and sign in with the right one.

Step 11 — Verify the setup

When you see the “All set” screen, close the window and return to Claude. Type “list my Google Ads accounts”; if the account name and ID come back, setup is complete. Continue with a read request such as “show me the last 7 days”.

On your first write request, for example pausing a campaign, Claude returns a preview first and waits for your approval. Nothing is applied until you approve; every applied action is written to the audit log. Budget increases are capped at 50% per step.

Token security and revoking access

The access token issued by Google lives only on Tecrube's server, encrypted. Claude and the other clients never see it; they only send tool calls to Tecrube. A lost laptop does not expose your ad account.

To cut access, open your Google account's security settings and remove Tecrube under “Third-party apps with account access”. That invalidates the token and cuts access in every client at once, including Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. If you also want to remove the connector from Claude, delete it in the settings window from part one.

Frequently asked questions

The Google account you signed in with has no access to that ad account. Type “reconnect my Google Ads account” in the chat to restart the flow and this time choose the Google account authorised on the ad account. If you work through a manager account, use the account authorised on the MCC.

Through the same flow. When you sign in with the Google account authorised on the MCC, the account picker lists the manager account and the clients beneath it. Selecting several clients and switching between them is available on the Agency plan; Tecrube resolves the login-customer-id header on every call for you.

Depending on the app's verification status, Google may show a standard warning. The requested permissions are limited to Google Ads data; no access to Gmail, Drive or other Google services is requested. You can always check the scope list on the consent screen.

Yes. Type “change the managed account” in the chat and the account picker opens again. On the Pro plan one account is active at a time, but you can switch which one whenever you like.

Until you revoke it. Tecrube refreshes the access token in the background; you do not need to sign in again. If Google invalidates the token after a password change or security event, simply reconnect the account from the chat.
