Bulk URL inspection in Search Console: forty pages in one table

How to run the URL Inspection tool across a list instead of one page at a time, why canonical mismatches eat the most hours, and what the quota allows.

1

What an inspection tells you

URL Inspection shows when Google last crawled a page, whether it is indexed, which canonical Google selected and any mobile or structured data issues. Valuable for one page, torture for forty.

Tecrube’s Search Console tool runs the same inspection over a list of URLs and returns one table: status, crawl date, Google-selected canonical, user-declared canonical and any warning.

2

When to run a bulk inspection

After a site migration, after a major template change, when you publish a new category, or when organic traffic drops without explanation. In those four moments opening pages one by one is slow and error-prone.

An ecommerce site that added new product pages, for example, can learn a week later how many of them made it into the index with a single query.

3

Canonical mismatch: the biggest time sink

The most common issue is a difference between the canonical you declared and the one Google chose. Google may have preferred a parameterised URL, the http version or another page with similar content.

Checked one at a time, the difference slips past; seen as a column in a table, the pattern jumps out. The root cause is usually a single template bug: a missing canonical tag or the wrong address in the sitemap.

Tecrube groups the mismatches, explains the likely cause and, if you run WordPress, can write the fix to the pages through the preview → approve → apply flow.

4

Quota and practical limits

The Search Console API enforces a daily inspection quota per property. Instead of inspecting a thousand-page list in one go, start with the pages that matter most: revenue categories, the URLs losing the most traffic, and anything published recently.

Tecrube tracks the quota, splits the job across days when it runs out and notifies you in the panel when it finishes. Credit usage scales with page count; the 75 free credits cover a first run.

5

What to do with the results

Split the table into three groups: indexed and clean, indexed with a different canonical, not indexed at all. The first needs nothing, the second needs a template fix, the third needs a content or internal linking investigation.

For unindexed pages you can ask “is there a noindex, does robots.txt block it, does it receive internal links?” in the same chat; Tecrube crawls the page and answers.

6

SEO and ads in one panel

Sending ads to a landing page that is not indexed also hurts Quality Score. Because Search Console and Google Ads sit under the same connector in Tecrube, that overlap shows up in one query.

You can also start the bulk inspection from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor through the MCP connector; the result table is stored in the /app panel and compared against the next run.

7

An example inspection flow

Say a category template was updated. You tell Tecrube “inspect every category page and group the canonical mismatches”. When the table arrives you see that every mismatch comes from the same parameter.

The fix is one line in the template. With WordPress connected, the change arrives as a preview and you approve it. A week later you inspect the same list again and the comparison table shows which pages recovered.

The whole flow stays inside the chat, with no screen switching, no table copying and no step left to guesswork.

Frequently asked questions

Does bulk inspection submit pages to Google for indexing? No. URL Inspection reports the current state; requesting indexing is a separate action and cannot be done in bulk through the API. For important pages you still submit the request manually in the Search Console interface.

How current are the results? Inspection shows the latest information Google holds for that page. After a fix, the result does not change until Google recrawls the page, so scheduling a re-inspection a few days later is wiser.

Which pages should go on the list? Start with pages that bring traffic or revenue rather than every URL in the sitemap. Tecrube can pull the URLs losing the most impressions from Search Console performance data and propose them as the inspection list.

What if I have several properties? Each property uses its own quota and is listed separately. If both a domain property and a URL-prefix property are connected, running inspections on the domain property usually gives broader coverage.
