AI Google Ads management: an assistant that reads live data, finds waste and writes only with your approval

How Claude or ChatGPT reads your live Google Ads data over MCP, finds terms that click without converting, and why negatives are added only after you approve.

1

The difference from traditional management is lag

The Google Ads dashboard has everything, but nothing in it talks to you. You open the search terms report, sort the columns, pick out the wasteful terms by eye and add them to the negative list one by one. As the account grows this loop slips to weekly, then monthly, and the waste continues in between.

With AI-assisted management the same loop starts with a question: “list the search terms that got clicks but no conversions in the last 30 days”. The assistant reads the live data, sorts the list by spend and drafts the negative suggestion.

2

How the LLM and MCP work together

A large language model cannot see your account on its own. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, gives it a standard bridge for saying “pull this report from this account” or “add this negative to this campaign”. Tecrube is the hosted version of that bridge: you add one connector address to Claude or ChatGPT, link your Google account with OAuth, and setup is done.

From then on the model pulls live data for every question; it never answers from memory or from a stale export. That is the difference between “last month was fine” and “this is how it looks today”.

3

Scale and processing speed

Scanning a thousand-row search terms report by eye takes hours; for the assistant the answer takes seconds. If a law firm, for example, loses budget every month to off-intent terms such as “free”, “salary” or “job openings”, the assistant groups and surfaces those patterns in the first report.

The same speed applies to reporting: performance by campaign, ad group and keyword, with a period comparison, arrives in a single chat message.

4

Budget efficiency: stopping the waste

Adding negative keywords is the highest-return, least-done task in Google Ads. When the assistant drafts the list, Tecrube produces a preview: which campaign or shared list, which match type, which terms. You approve; the negatives are applied and written to the audit log.

That step is never skipped. Writes pass through an approval gate on the server, so the assistant cannot block a wrong term on its own. Reads are free and spend no credits.

5

Why an external assistant when Google has its own AI?

Performance Max and Smart Bidding are optimisation Google runs inside your account, and they often work well. But they do not explain your account to you, compare it with your Meta results, clean your negative list or tell you that conversion tracking is broken.

The external assistant's role is not to compete with Google's algorithm; it is to feed that algorithm clean data, sound structure and accurate negatives, and then explain the outcome to you.

6

Safety and getting started

You never type your password into any assistant; access is granted through OAuth and revoked from the panel in one click. No API key or developer account is required.

A free account includes 75 credits that never expire, enough for a first audit and a first negative list. Pro is $49 a month for a single account; Agency is $99 a month for every client under an MCC.

Once connected, ask for a general account audit as your first question; the findings show which habit to focus on first.

7

Three habits for working with the assistant

First, ask with a date range and a criterion. Instead of “which campaigns are doing badly?”, say “list campaigns whose CPA over the last 14 days is thirty percent above the account average”. That ties the answer to data rather than interpretation; the clearer the assistant knows what you are after, the sharper its suggestion.

Second, actually read the preview. It is not a formality but the final checkpoint; seeing which campaign, which match type and how many terms takes ten seconds. If a term is wrong, backing out and having the list corrected is always easier than undoing it after it is applied.

Third, set a weekly rhythm. A fixed routine such as search terms on Monday, budget allocation on Wednesday, ad strength and approval status on Friday turns the account from something you look at when trouble starts into something you look at regularly. Because reads spend no credits, the only cost of that rhythm is the changes you apply.

These three habits are the essence of using the assistant not as a magic button but as a meticulous helper that reads the account alongside you.
