Conversion tracking
Conversion tracking records the valuable actions people take after an ad interaction, such as a purchase, form or call, and attributes them to the campaign and keyword that produced them.
Back to glossaryWhat it is
A tag or SDK sits at the destination (website, app or forwarding phone number); when the defined action happens, it reports to the ad platform together with an identifier carried from the first click. In Google Ads that identifier is the GCLID, in Microsoft the MSCLKID, in Meta the fbclid with Pixel or Conversions API events.
As cookie limits and ad blockers erode browser-side measurement, server-side methods (Enhanced Conversions, Conversions API, offline conversion imports from a CRM) have become part of the baseline setup.
Why it matters
Conversion data is more than reporting: tCPA, tROAS and Performance Max learn entirely from this signal. If conversions double-count, fire on the wrong event or treat every micro-action as equal, automation optimises confidently toward the wrong target.
Serious accounts separate primary conversions (what bidding optimises) from secondary ones (insight only), assign realistic values and choose the counting rule deliberately: “every” for e-commerce, “one” for lead generation. A thank-you page that refires on refresh and differing attribution windows across platforms are the classic sources of mismatch.
How Tecrube uses it
You can review, create and edit Google Ads conversion actions from the chat instead of navigating settings screens. Creating the tag and trigger in Tag Manager, publishing the container version and verifying the event in GA4 happen in the same session.
A badly timed edit to a primary conversion action can break the whole account's bidding. That is why every change is previewed as a clear before-and-after, applied only on your approval and logged.
Example
“List my Google Ads conversion actions; flag the ones that never fired in the last 30 days and the primary ones with no value.” After the findings, saying “make the form submission secondary” returns a preview and waits for approval.
