Part 1: Add the MCP connector to Claude

In this part you tell Claude where the Tecrube server is and that it may access it. There are five steps, all inside Claude's settings window. When the part is done, Claude is connected to Tecrube; your Google Ads account is not yet connected, that is part two.

The steps are written for the Claude web app and Claude Desktop, where the menus are called Settings, Connectors and Add custom connector. Equivalent steps for ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor are at the end of the part.

Guides

Step 1 — Open settings

In Claude, open the profile menu at the bottom left and choose Settings. In Claude Desktop the same menu sits in the bottom-left corner of the window. When the settings window opens, a list of sections appears on the left.

Step 2 — Go to Connectors

Pick Connectors from the list on the left. Click the Add button at the top right and choose Add custom connector from the menu. If the option is missing, your plan does not support custom connectors; it is available on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.

Step 3 — Enter the connector details

The form has two fields. In the name field type a label you will recognise; “Tecrube” or “Google Ads” is enough. Paste the connector address into the URL field and click Add.

  • Address: https://mcp.tecrube.com/mcp
  • Do not remove the /mcp at the end of the address; the server listens on that path.
  • If there are OAuth client ID or secret fields, leave them empty; Tecrube does not need them.

Step 4 — Start the connection

Once the connector appears in the list, a Connect button shows next to it. Clicking it opens Tecrube's authorisation page in your browser. This page asks whether Claude may access the Tecrube server; it has nothing to do with Google Ads yet.

Step 5 — Approve the access request

On the authorisation page click Allow access. The page closes and the connector's status in Claude changes to “Connected”. From this moment Claude sees Tecrube's tool list, but since no ad account is connected yet, the tools return no data.

You can enable or disable the connector per conversation. In a new chat, make sure Tecrube is ticked in the tools menu.

The same steps in other apps

The connector address is identical in every app; only where you add it differs. Whichever app you use, the Google authorisation in part two is exactly the same.

  • ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → enable developer mode at the bottom of the page → add https://mcp.tecrube.com/mcp as a custom MCP server. The setting exists only in the web interface and on paid plans.
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http tecrube https://mcp.tecrube.com/mcp in the terminal. In the session type /mcp, select the tecrube server and choose Authenticate; a browser opens once.
  • Cursor: add { "mcpServers": { "tecrube": { "url": "https://mcp.tecrube.com/mcp" } } } to ~/.cursor/mcp.json and reload the window. VS Code reads the same block from .vscode/mcp.json, Windsurf from ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

Troubleshooting

If the connector will not add or never shows “Connected”, run the three checks below in order. Most problems are solved by the first two.

  • Re-check the address: it must start with https and end with /mcp, with no stray spaces or line breaks.
  • If the authorisation page did not open, check the browser's pop-up blocker and click Connect again.
  • If the custom connector option is missing, check your Claude plan; the setting is hidden on the free plan.

Frequently asked questions

No. Part one only links Claude to the Tecrube server. The Google sign-in happens in part two, on the OAuth screen hosted by Tecrube, and Claude never sees those details.

No; it is only the label shown in Claude's tools menu. It helps if you have several connectors. You can change it at any time.

The steps are the same, and because the connector is tied to your account, adding it in one makes it appear in the other. You do not need to authorise again.

Yes, each person adds it to their own Claude account and authorises with their own Google account in part two. Team members only see the ad accounts opened to them; there is no shared key or shared session.
